What I have been upto....

As I am on the subject of bodybuilding... I have a show in 3 weeks time which is shaping up to be a great comp by the awesome people that have registered so far... The Get The Edge Team have travelled to NSW, QLD and Victoria with a workshop in Adelaide in June with another great ANB Promoter David Solaman who is an amazing guy who is going to rock SA with the show. (Okay so I am helping him out with his first show in September and with the intentions we do a ANB show in Perth next year!) So on that department how can you not be inspired having the likes of Lindy Olsen, Greg Dolman and the queen of posing... Vicki Arief.... Then not to mention all of the attendees and friends that continue to believe in what we believe which is 100% natural is the way to go!!!!

Listening to yourself and staying focus on the goal?

So to date have lost about 15kgs (Had it to lose trust me) I still have my treats (Im not aiming to compete just regain my health) And though I have been always a healthy eater  really have really started to fall in love with my food.. I actually bless the food and thank it for nourishing me bit dorky maybe but for me its working a treat. It hasnt felt this easy for years!

Anyhow I share my story because I know for those that are struggling to continue to diet for a comp or regain their health like myself that its never the end result that is important its the journey and what you learn from it that will stay with you for a lifetime!

So continuing where I left off.. I have kept this weight off but have not kept up my exercise apart from walking the dogs when I can. In early february I stuffed my back up again.. Okay 1 leg presses on 200kg on the leg press is not a good idea with a bad back obviously. This time though the injury wasnt my old injury luckily and it only took 3 weeks of physio and riding on the back of a boat in a biscuit to now be 99% injury free. Yes even my old injury has little to say! Lesson though of course to train as a person regaining health not as a person wanting to be the strongest girl in the gym :) Old habits are hard to break!

When life is trying to tell you something!

When life is going great or it’s trying to tell you something we sometimes forget to just enjoy and take note of what’s going on around you and within you!
This week I faced or should I say noticed an inner negative dialogue talking to me... I always used to think when we discussed the inner critic or self talk etc that it only happened to others that I wasn’t one of them!

Bulging Disc and dealing with the injury - Going to Give up? No way!!

This times lesson was a hard one! Minor setback definately!!!!
Having thought I had eased my self back into training I got carried away with the weights and without thinking and being rational I was stupid enough to do the 45 degree leg press and push out 4 sets of standard presses after working up to 200kgs. Of course if that wasnt enough i thought okay my back has held out I will do 3 sets of one legged presses with the same weight! All good too easy I thought.. walked home even.. that was on the friday from memory.. I think I then also continued to walk on the saturday and put in a 6km bike ride somewhere with my new beaut racer that I hope will carry me to do the 90km team event I have entered in November... So you may be seeing what I am about to share with you already but anyhow feeling on top of the world around comes Sunday and I thought to myself lets battle the washing! Yes the washing... So I happily carry the basket out to the verandah and bang! Down I go... I knew instantly that I had done another disc in my back...

Cardio on an empty stomach? Does this burn more fat?

Logically you would think walking (Cardio) first thing in the morning before breakfast means you burn fat rather than the energy I have consumed in my body and then has I have started the day with burning calories by exercising I would say that I continue to burn calories more during the day etc...

Im a big believer its energy in versus energy out and that recovery nutrition and supplementation is very important.

I have seen myself over the years of experimenting so many times with my own diet and working with 1000's of others is that we are all differentl and our preferences of exercise and food intake is also different.

For me I enjoy getting up and going for that hour of power... I was told by a nutritionist to eat an hour prior to exercise being a diabetic but have found I feel good during and after the workout and only find myelf a few times grabbing a banana on the way out...Anyhow heres a few theories and facts that sit right with me that I have found makes sense... What do you think???

Going through a tough time? How do you handle it???

Over the years I am one that gets thrown a few tests shall we say! I believe its not that I get more than others or that there is someone in the sky going let's get her and hope she breaks! I really believe we have choices and being a person that I put myself out there I get presented with many opportunities and also the type of personality I am I can easily be lead into making decisiions that some work out and I can go "great" that paid off! Then othertimes I could easily be crawled up in a ball! Something to think about is how do you handle it when times are tough!!!! Being super honest here once upon a time it would be with a packet of tim tams (Hey they are good even when times arent tough!) these days no matter what I get up and have my hour of power which has sort of turned out to be 1.5 hours first thing in the morning.. (Did i forget to tell you that how great it feels to be able to not only walk but walk with very little pain!) Through all my years in and out of a gym I have always said that the we ...

Another blog by me...

Well its week 3 of my mind set where it comes to exercise. Conquering the fear my training partner have walked every street in Forest Hill and Blackburn and are starting to see visual results for the efforts. More energy! Not has bloated in the face! And most importingly we are now ready to conquer the real test DIET! With the small changes we have made we are now talking about upping the cardio to lite jog runs for our hour of power and introduce the weights a few times a week together. Not sure I shared this and its nothing to do with bb but I have formed a team for the half ironman for the Shepparton Race in November this year. With a national swim champion on my team alongside a fit runner I have put my hand up to do the 90km bike ride. Some of you that have followed my dreams and goals may of realised I had pulled out in 2010 from doing the whole race  myself. This time call it me growing up or something but I am committing to goals that are realistic but still challenging and that fits into my he ...

OMG its already the second week of Jan....

Well doesnt time fly when you are having fun! With Xmas and New Year out of the way and motivation high I thought I would blog today about exactly whats going on with my strategy to finally get my butt into gear and share with you all whats going on with my own fitness and health goals. Not sure if I have shared but before xmas I was diagnosed with diabetes.. (Yep what next!!!!) I have to laught has I recall I was sitting outside the gym I have joined up before xmas and calling a dear friend (Thanks Laynie for all your support) and telling her how crappy I was feeling and how I thought I was going through menopause...(She went on to tell me to get my butt to the doctors and atleast I could find out exactly what was wrong so I could use it to my advantage and work with what I had rather than just not knowing) Okay okay I know I am only 42 but I had heard of women going through early menopause!!!! Of course I was blaming all the weight I had put on since deciding exercising was too scary has I might hurt m ...

Reflecting back in 2012

Its been way to long since I have blogged about myself here, so thought I would share whats been going on in my own life regarding my health and fitness goals.

I have found myself the last few years making excuse after excuse to the point that I was getting tired of hearing them myself.

Reflecting back I have achieved some amazing accomplishments. Studying full time I have finished my diploma in counselling which I am very pleased about and taking up another 2 years to get my degree in it PLUS starting another degree in bachelor of education. I have also streamlined my business so it suits me! Ive had two very successful bodybuilding competitions which I have promoted with some amazing results at the Nationals and ANB Asia Pacifics this year which has made me very proud of all the competitors!

Ive worked alongside Lindy Olsen and the Get The Edge Team that took us to other states with the pre-competition workshops we have held since 2006.

Motivational Quote - By Pablo Picasso Artist

"An idea is a point of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought." By Pablo Picasso One of my favourite artists!!!! Picasso known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈpaβlo ˈrwiθ piˈkaso]; 25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor who lived most of his life in France. He is widely known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Guernica (1937), a portrayal of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. Picasso demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent in his early years, painting in a realistic manner through his childhood and adolescence; during the first decade of the 20th century his style changed as he experimented with different theories, techniques, and ideas. His revolutionary artistic accomplishments brought him universal renown and ...
