Sometimes being a mother and trying to train for a competition is not only a challenge but a battle of emotions and responsibilities.
Having Cooper (my son) diagnosed as legally blind 2 weeks ago and being with him this week while he went through surgery was tugging at my heart strings. Also massively challenged me when trying to focus on my training.
Sadly when things unravel I feel it’s always my nutrition that becomes compromised, however this needs to change and fast.
It’s funny when things are tough how you rely on family and friends to keep you focussed and on track. Along with my husband,. the staff at Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre providing me with the kick up the butt I need every now and again, as well as the support and advice I also require at times when I have self-doubt. Not to mention the gruelling training sessions they like to punish me with. It’s funny how when I walk into the doors at DVSFC that instantly I feel at home

8 years later and life continues to throw curve balls. The past few years in particular have presented me with many challenges. Having my 3 children diagnosed with multiple, life altering medical conditions that challenge me everyday. I was then effected by The Black Saturday Bush-fires and I have spent that last few years trying to re-establish what we lost, not to mention this is an event that taught me to be strong. Then losing my Dad to cancer has definitely been really tough, however the loss of my dad also taught me to be a strong role model for my children.
