Final stretch

Wow, only 17 days to go, how time has flown. Last week was a very ordinary week with weight training. The week before I felt a twinge in my chest during a rear delt exercise lying on the bench, I adjusted my postion on the bench & kept going. I felt OK but one night I went to ...

4 weeks

I can't believe the comp is only 4 weeks away. The time has just flown by. The last few weeks have been full of up's and downs. Easter weekend was great until the Monday after where I just wanted to have something, I would open the fridge & there were the kids brightly coloured easter eggs ...

Discovery

The last few weeks have been full of discoveries & changes. My head hasn't been in the right place, any negtivity was affecting me. My weight wasn't moving as quickly as I would like, but I had been making progress. I have found that my body doesn't like green beans, I started usi ...

Point of no return

Had a great week with training & nutrition, until Saturday - weigh in & measurements. It's funny how you can be right on top of your game then one silly little thing can make you think "what am I doing". My measurements all went down, including my weight, but my weight was a measly ...

Listening to my body

I haven't blogged for a few weeks, it's been so busy with work & life in general. My aim of listening to my body has worked great. Last week I only had a loss of 200g so I made some changes to both nutrition & cardio & was happy to see a 600g loss for this week. My skin folds have also d ...

Workshop magic

Another fantastic workshop, it had the biggest turn out that I have seen in any of the past workshops. It is always great to catch up with Maria, Lindy, Greg & Vicki. They are my inspiration & motivation to be the best I possibly can. It doesn't matter how many workshops I go to I always lea ...

Rollercoaster ride

One minute your up, on top of the world the next your doubting yourself. Yesterday morning I was feeling great, I got my 30 min cardio in, saw clients, had a great training session, then had a tiny hiccup with my business which was nothing to worry about but I let it creep in. I decided t ...

Sit back, relax for 10 with my icecream

My little angel/monster is finally asleep, I have my bowl of ice cream & peanut butter cups so thought I'd get in another blog. When I say ice cream it's not your regular store bought stuff. It's a fantastic recipe from the latest issue of Oxygen mag. Not only does Oxygen have great recipes ...

Blog 1 - Sharing her current training and more...

Training this week has been great. It was the first week I didn't feel lethargic & concentrated on every squeeze on every rep. I had muscle soreness all week but it was the good kind, enough to know I worked out but not so much that it hurt do anything.

My nutrition was great. 5 out of 6 meals are perfect, dinner time I am having something not in my plan, maybe instead of almonds I'm having cheese or a piece of short cut bacon, or lettuce taco's. My weight is dropping so I'm not too worried about it yet.

Other competitions I have always worried about what other people thought of what I was doing. This time I'm listening to my body, if my weight & skinfolds are dropping my plan will stay the same, when it stops responding I will change it up. Having Lindy help me out for my last competition has helped so much. I know what works but have the confidence now to try my own thing.

OBSTACLES OVERCOME
Competing 4 times, I never felt I had control over my nutrition, feeling like a phony I would kick myself every time I ate the wrong food. I was doing competitions with no coach and just with the knowledge of the ANB workshops, I decided to take up the opportunity and seek advice from 5x World Champion Lindy Olsen and Greg Dolman (Lindy's Coach and Trainer.) With the extra support I was more serious with the strategies in place for the goals I wanted to achieve. My comp prep was perfect for 21 weeks. I was surprised that I lasted that long. For the next 6 months I was doing great. Then in May 2011 I became very negative, particularly when I heard negative comments, so my reaction was to binge. I still planned on competing but I had my work cut out for me. 6 weeks before the competition was the last straw, something negative was said again so I went out & binged. After this binge I knew there was no way I could do this competition & be better than before so I pulled out of the comp. After the decision was made the weight of the world disappeared, I cut back the cardio to maintenance, started having different meals for lunch & dinner. Negative comments stopped, my negative attitude was gone, so was the thickness I had been feeling around my waist. I realised that every thought I had was the competition. I have used this time as another learning experience.
I will be competing in May for Maria & am really looking forward to it. I still have my ups & downs, I can be really positive one minute & can do anything, the next minute I’m down & think I’m kidding myself. The difference now though is I don’t binge. I’m looking forward to catching up with Lindy, Greg, Maria & everyone else at the next workshop. I always come home inspired by other stories. Lindy Greg & Maria always give me the confidence that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS
Working out & learning as much as I can about training & nutrition for myself & my clients.
I love spending time with my husband Brendan & sons Aaron & Jett. I recently had a go at wakeboarding, (got up after 3rd try, stay on for long – no).

FUTURE GOALS
I would like to continue competing, challenging myself mentally and physically, making sure my physique gets better and better every year.
